Yet, it is not the complete futility of names that concerns me in witnessing the assimilation of Salvador Dali’s name to our friend Mr. Broken Bottle’s life but instead the misunderstanding of proper tense, and commercialization, solidification of real people as characters. In this instance, Mr. Broken Bottle is clearly unaware of the stature of the name he has taken on, and merely enjoys it as a fine tie as opposed to a true appreciation of the Salvador Dali as a real artist. Furthermore his misunderstanding of proper tense of the noun artist at all is further proof of his accepted confusion. This confusion and “cashing in” on others names to be absorbed as personal identity is not that outlandish in society today, certainly not the misunderstanding of tenses. The plea is that one does not take the names of others in means to access their identity and in turn commercialize it and also that everyone learns how to speak English. ~Bob |
